Diversity

I used to think that we should all be on the same page on different topics. I wouldn’t understand why you are not understanding things the way I do, it used to make me mad and sad, until I thought of a world full of me. The world where everybody thinks, behaves, acts like me. I hated the idea the moment it popped in my head Because none is perfect and am not an exception but mingling with others hide my flaws and light my strengths and with our uniqueness we make this world colorful and beautiful. Knowing Diversity meaning changed my life and mindsets and ultimately became something I wish everyone could understand.

Nowadays people are free to express themselves like never before as social media gives all of us a space to do that. We like what we like and share what impressed us, some of us comment on different posts and that is why I say that social media have been a new way of opinions expression, but this doesn’t mean that we no longer use the other ways like brainstorming with friends, co-workers, attending and participates in public lecturers and several meetings. We see people arguing everyday on social media telling each other bad things or we might hear people say bad things about others just because they are different or don’t have the same opinions.

It is a good thing actually the best thing to feel confident about your ideas, race, religion, culture, sex, background, values and principles because it helps you to be unique and don’t be taken to places you shouldn’t go to or follow crowd which you might being lost in. and that kind of confidence makes you creative and unique which makes you special and attractive but it becomes worse when you start to feel superior or higher than others, we call it overconfidence and it kills.

Just because you love the color red doesn’t mean that the rest of the world should love it, or makes it the best color when someone out there doesn’t even like it. Therefore, it doesn’t make you enemies or different because at the end of the time we are all human instead you have different tastes and it is great. I never thought of this until today but what if the whole world loved green color for example our eyes couldn’t enjoy the cuteness of pink, blue, purple, red, peach, lime etc. because none of us would think or be encouraged to produce other colors we would be obsessed and blinded by the color we all love. And think about it economically it would be rare and costly as the demand would definitely exceed the production but having different tastes made it possible to discover different colors and it is awesome.

Someone said that “the beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people'' and he/she was very right. If we were all the same, we wouldn’t be here today. There would be no development, we would be stuck at a certain point. I can understand that desire of being with people you have common beliefs and same mindsets but that would lead us nowhere because when you keep understanding things you know, live the life you are familiar with, hangouts with people who think just like us, all of those lead us nowhere because engaging with people who thinks, acts, believe different from us challenge us to be great and that makes us evolve. Diversity guides us to growth in general.

Admitting that we have different taste and that is so fine it is the first step to live diversity, we often tell bad things others angrily on social media just because we don’t think like them or judge others wrong accuse them badly just because we are not like them and we forget that we have different background and beliefs again if you want to share your opinions you can do it without sounding like a judge and people would receive your ideas happily but once you sound angry, judging, attacking people become defensive they will not understand a single thing in what you are trying to say. One of the things made me realize that I was wrong to judge people or want them to understand things like me was learning from a person I thought could teach me nothing. I realized that you can even gain from those people we see as the worst of the worst, everyone among us has a gift and it is up to us to see the good side of everything. We have a lot of better things we could do than judging. Let's start practicing that, start seeing the positive side of every person would help to overcome judging and lead us to the better world we always claim.
